Day 8 - Getting to Ceva

 Day 8

Early morning start today after a night of thunder and lightening. Skies initially looked ominous but soon the sun burned away the clouds.
Monaco looking good from the roadside.

Bashed along the A8 to get to Italy and no sooner did we get over the border we hit the worlds biggest cluster fuck and traffic jam and sat in a boiling hot tunnel. Spent an hour in 30 degrees winding our way through small villages having been deviated from the motorway.

Nice little pit stop before the 1st challenging mountain pass.

Needed to check the sat nav as instincts kicked in and thought it was wrong. It was telling us to go over the mountain pass (that i had chosen). It looked like a mountain pass for goats!!!

The SP17 will be etched in our memories forever!! Even as experienced riders it was the most challenging and frightening road all in one go. The drops to the left were absolutely shear, the hairpins were as tight as can be, on surfaces that weren’t too kind to our tyres. And once we got to the top which was around a 1600 meter climb, we had the pleasure of riding downhill through dense forrest with wet slippery pine laced roads. Jeez-  I’m not doing that again, what an experience…..

Toby (and me btw) looked a bit pensive to say the least 🤣🤣🤣🤣. The only person who really loved it was Mrs C. But she didn’t look over the edge!!

Ride over to Pomarati which was spectacular - gaining massive height and the temperature dropped by 17 degrees. It was freezing at the top

Down to Ceva, gorgeous little local restaurant to have 1st authentic Italian meal  Just a bit of home made Pasta Arrabiata

It’s just a B&B for the night, but we have the whole place to ourselves. It looks a bit tired and ropey,  it was actually very welcoming and comfortable.
